Observations~

1. My first observation is Cole's anger. It seems to me that the real reason he's so angry is because he wants to compensate for his insecurities and shortcomings. I think this is a common trait among bullies who pick on younger/weaker people in order to makes themselves seem "cool" or some variation of the word. Cole's anger and  insecurities are the only things holding him back from being successful in life. He realizes this at the end of the novel.

2. My second observation is Peter's hostility towards Cole. Because of Cole's actions, Peter was left unsure of himself. This is shown when he tried to kill himself. Peter's fear and anger towards Cole inhibits him from doing anything to further himself in life. If it hadn't of been for circle justice, Peter might've never been able to move on and be happy in life.

3.  My final observation is of Edwin and the pond. Edwin stated that he used the pond to get rid of his anger, but earlier stated that he never got rid of it, but just focused his mind away from it. He compared his anger to the left side of a stick, but chose to focus on the right side of it. Edwin is an optimist, which played a major role in the story as Edwin gave Cole good life advice and tips.
